Virginia Zeta Chapter History
The Virginia Zeta chapter of Phi Kappa Psi was founded on November 13th, 1976 at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Phi Kappa Psi History
The Phi Kappa Psi fraternity was founded on February 19, 1852 at Jefferson College in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania. The Fraternity was founded as a national fraternity which would assemble outstanding students from well established colleges throughout the country. The fraternity was founded by William Henry Letterman and Charles Page Thomas Moore on the idea of serving others. During the Civil war 452 of the approximate 600 current members joined with the north or south. About 100 of those who enlisted were killed on the field of battle. Despite the hostilities of the time, the membership roll was increased by about 200 members during the war. Over time many new chapters and many new members have since become members of the Phi Kappa Psi tradition.

Sesquicentennial
On February 19th, 2002, Phi Kappa Psi turned 150 years old. The Fraternity held a founders day celebration at Washington and Jefferson. If you would like more information please visit Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity Sesquicentennial Central.
